Cures for Nausea and Heartburn While Pregnant

Monday, November 2, 2009

I've been suffering from heartburn and nausea per my usual pregnancy symptoms. This time, thanks to some fresh ideas from friends, I found the best cures for them!

Someone suggested Ginger-ale. I went one step further and went to my health food store and bought Reed's Jamaican Style Ginger Beer with the extra ginger. I'm not saying it's delicious, but it worked INSTANTLY and I only drank 1/3 of the bottle.

Sticking with the ginger theme, I bought some Gluten Free ginger snaps. These are delicious and did ease the nausea.

Because I love calorie free and beneficial herbal teas, especially Yogi teas, I was interested in trying this Yogi tea: "Woman's Mother to Be" tea. It contains peppermint, spearmint, and anise for nausea raspberry leave for the uterus. It has a great flavor. I used liquid Stevia for sweetening.

When I was nauseous I ate graham crackers and when I had heartburn I would chew gum and it would go away. Just avoid gum with aspartame/Nutrasweet!

Gum chewing is the heartburn miracle cure no one tells you about!

I feel like I've tried it all too, however never the tea. You'll have to keep me posted on that one. Lately I've been using Agave Nectar to sweeten things, it's nice because Costco carries it now.

Have you tried Ph balancing with Cinnamon? I am sure you know by now what food do and don't work for you during pregnancy. I found the after taste of crackers to be very distasteful, I sure like the ginger idea. Good luck and Congratulations!
